The IRO is devastated by these senseless acts of terror. It is particularly appalling that some of these attacks have been carried out in churches at a time when our Christian brothers and sisters were in prayer and celebrating Easter Sunday. This is a cruel act against innocent people which the IRO strongly condemns.
Members of the IRO pray for the many lives lost in the multiple bombings in various parts of Sri Lanka. Our sincere condolences go to the families of the victims. Our thoughts are with them as we stand in solidarity to support the people of Sri Lanka during this period.
The tragic situation in Sri Lanka, following the recent Mosque attacks in New Zealand, is alarming. These acts of violence are particularly aimed to cause fear and sew the seeds of discord among people of different faiths. It is precisely in these trying moments where we must come together as one to uphold the principles of humanity.
The IRO prays for peace and solidarity to prevail in Sri Lanka and around the world in these difficult times.
