IRO Kicks off Celebrations for 75th Anniversary Together with Singapore’s Jewish Community & other Faith Groups

The Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO), as it looks forward to its 75th anniversary next year, celebrated with the Jewish Welfare Board; Sukkoth. Mr.Goh Chok Tong, Emeritus Senior Minister and Patron of IRO, was the Guest of Honour for the event held on 4 October 2023 at Jacob Ballas Centre.
Key persons included Mr. Noor Marican (President, IRO); Mr. Nash Benjamin (President, JWB); Rabbi Mordechai Abergel (Chief Rabbi of Singapore); Ambassador Eli Hazan (Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Singapore); Mr. Desmond Chin, Commissioner of Charities and Mr. Bilahari Kausikan (Chairman, Middle East Institute, National University Singapore).
Council Members of IRO, leaders and members of the Singapore Jewish Community, representatives of the Embassy of the State of Israel, faith and leaders from various Singapore-based religious organisations, including Cardinal William Goh, from the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Singapore and Sahibus Samahah Ustaz Dr. Nazirudin Mohd Nasir, the Mufti of Singapore graced the event.
The Jewish community has been a part of IRO for over seven decades.
Sukkoth is a week-long Jewish holiday that celebrates the gathering of the harvest and commemorates the miraculous and divine protection for the children of Israel when they left Egypt.
