SYNOPSIS
The Harmony of Faiths Singapore Talks is a series of interactive get-together focused on knowledge building and sharing about the multi-religions in Singapore. The talks aim to educate the general public in Singapore about the commonalities and differences in the practice of religions.
In the first session, speakers from the Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Baha’i and Jain religions will share about the practice of fasting in their respective religions. Participants will gain an opportunity to learn:
- What is the basis of belief for religious fasting in Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Baha’i faith and Jainism?
- Why do followers of these religions observe fasting?
- What are the commonalities and differences in the practice of fasting among these religions?
The participants will also have an opportunity to listen to personal experiences religions in Singapore observe the fasting.
